Found this at our local OSH. This really beats the plastic alternatives I’ve seen. Careful with their other products; they are not all domestic.
DeWalt: Wide Tape Measure and Boxcutter Set
Look how wide the tape is on this! I haven’t tried to extend it, but I’ll be that it will extend 15 feet in the air without support. Somebody take the extension challenge and report back with the true figure! This is part of a dual set that also includes a Made in USA box cutter handle. Found this at Home Depot.
