Big Chill: Retro Yet Very Modern Kitchen Appliances

We were very excited when we discovered Big Chill, an up-and-coming designer and manufacturer of super-hip kitchen appliances that come in many colors and hundreds of “custom” color options.  They construct their exteriors with solid, stamped steel, and then they coat it with a gorgeous eco-friendly powder-coating.  Although these appliances are not exactly main-stream, they are on to something with their modern-yet-retro line of kitchen appliances.  They may look retro, but they are anything but old-fashioned.

Let’s begin with their lineup of refrigerators… four fridges at different sizes from under-counter, to studio size, to full-size.  The interiors are made by larger American manufacturing companies, and the exterior paneling is painted and assembled in Boulder, CO.  Stoves and hoods are made in Reading, PA, and the parts and assembly of the dishwashers are made in USA too.  Microwaves are no exception and come in a wide range of colors. The microwave’s electronic components are imported, but the exterior, paneling and painting are American.

Painting process is not cheap, but you can rest assured that the industrial processes are environmentally sound and do not leak any harmful vapors into your living space after curing.  We would say that considering what they are offering, prices are pretty reasonable.
